This conference will be led by the University of Vic- University of Central Catalonia with the participation of Barcelona City Council, Barcelona Provincial Council and the Department of Labor, Welfare and Families of the Government of Catalonia. Below we will present the four organizing institutions behind this project:

The Gender Studies Group: Translation, Literature, History and Communication (2014 SGR 62), UVic-UCC, is a research group created in 1999. One of its research lines is devoted to lesbian, gay, trans and queer Studies The main objective of this line of research is to promote research into the realities and perspectives of the lesbian, gay, trans, bisexual, queer and intersex collective (LGTBQI). Our main areas of interest are training in the field of sexual and gender diversity, the promotion of public policies for equality on the grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity, the recovery of the collective’s historical memory, analyse the historical construction of identity categories, and the investigation and design of interventions aimed at improving the quality of life of trans people. The LGBTI research team coordinated the project Against Homophobia, European Local Administration Devices (AHEAD), co-funded by the Directorate of Fundamental Rights and Citizenship of the European Union (2010/2011), within the framework of which the first European Rainbow Cities conference was organised.
